When You Know You’re Done With _______________

As you and your expertise business mature, you’ll start saying “no” more often than “yes”.
It often happens gradually, without even being aware of it as your expertise, needs and passions change.
But as you move into a re*shift, sometimes you’ll choose to accelerate those no’s because there is something else you want more.
I like to think of it as you know you’re done with _____________.
Not that _____________is bad necessarily, but that it’s no longer a fit for the business + life you want now.
Paying attention to the signals (subtle or flashing in bright neon) that you’re done with a thing can pay some huge dividends.
Like these examples from clients who are making re*shifts:
I knew I was done with pitching media vs. designing thoughtful strategy when I started yawning on a new business call.
I knew I was done hiring contractors when the thought of managing multiple people on a new gig made me realize I just don’t want to manage big projects anymore.
I knew I was done with clients who are mostly tactical when I compared that to how fun it is to work with big picture CEOs where I’m in my genius zone.
I knew I was done with work that didn’t have a big mission component when my financial advisor told me I don’t need to hit the big numbers anymore.
Here’s the thing: it’s easy to see the big signs, but sometimes the subtle ones will tell you every bit as much if you pay close attention…
